Spoons

Regular workshops

Jo has a particular passion for spoon playing and is keen to pass it on to others!

Jo's Spoons Workshops are great fun, and are suitable for:
schools
teachers’ conferences/CPDs
festivals, parties
team building events
old folks homes
Brownie/Guide/Scout groups
WIs
special needs groups
cafes/bars
and any other events....!

Jo provides an assortment of metal, wooden, plastic and joined-up spoons (for younger participants) and she teaches a variety of techniques and rhythms, often incorporating songs and body percussion too. Workshops can be tailored to suit your event so do get in touch to chat about different options.

The workshops are usually accompanied by the fantastic fiddler, Linda Game or Against the Grain guitarist, Matt Sullivan.

Linda has played with many bands of differing styles, from jazz and rock through to traditional music. She played for the American Appalachian dance team, Broken Ankles, for 17 years and played with Jo for a number of years in the folk band, Zoox.

Matt is a brilliant flamenco and jazz guitarist who has worked with Jo for a couple of years now as Against the Grain. He also plays with Manos Puestas and one of Britain's largest Flamenco groups, Camino del Flamenco.

Jo leads her workshops with infectious energy and fun, leaving children and adults of all ages, engaged, excited and eager for more! She made a group of fifty spoon players sound fantastic at the May in a Day! family festival at Cecil Sharp House.
